"Merlin College - Nobody is different because everybody is", is a line that has been used in Merlin College since its’ inception in 2013 to celebrate the great diversity that exists in the school. There has been a rapid shift in students’ lives from “the norm” to one of uncertainty due to the Covid-19 pandemic which is impacting people all over the world. The pandemic has caused increased levels of stress, anxiety, and fear for individuals and communities. Students are experiencing a number of difficulties dealing with the many layers created by Covid-19. While efforts are being taken to contain the spread of Covid-19, which is critical at this point, there are a number of concerns and issues being raised psychologically for people and in particular students. Leaving Cert students are dealing with a disruption to their typical way of learning and a level of uncertainty surrounding achieving their goals and aspirations.

Minister for Education and Skills Joe McHugh TD has announced the cancellation of oral and practical performance tests of the state examinations - which were originally scheduled to take place from Monday, March 23 to Friday, April 3.

GALWAY ARTS Centre will host its annual study day for Leaving Cert art history and appreciation students on Tuesday January 21 from 9am to 3pm in the Nuns Island Theatre and Galway Arts Centre.

Bookings have been ongoing since early July for the weekly after school and Saturday classes which the Study Centre at Mill Street is offering to sixth year, fifth year, and Junior Cert students from September 16. An extensive range of subjects is available with a good choice of times, particularly at Leaving Cert level. Leaving Cert and fifth year study skills classes will commence from Wednesday, September 25, and will run once a week for four weeks.

The Galway Study Centre is a tutorial school which has been based in Mill Street for the past 35 years. Enrolments are now being taken for its new term, starting on September 16.

The Junior Cert is just around the corner, and exam preparations in the final few weeks are crucial for the students to get their best performance on exam day.
